How may I improve my best learning experience?

I have designed most of my learning experiences for my ICT rich unit of work and have decided that the following learning experience is the best one so far.

The main content descriptor for this learning experience is

The learning experience is:

Students will discuss in groups what they think a solid, a liquid, and a gas is and will add it to a google document created for this activity.

Students will then suggest properties of each state to be added to a mind map (bubbl.us) on the Interactive whiteboard.

Students will photograph different solids, liquids, and gases and annotate them using an iPad app (I have not decided which one yet as there are a few that fulfil this purpose).

Please feel free to comment any suggestions or ways I can improve this learning experience.

Hi Sarah. I think you are on the right track for a good unit plan. While my UOW is on HPE (Year 5 also) I am also trying to link in specific apps and experience that is meaningful and purposeful for the students in the learning sequence. My HPE unit plan has both practical and class assessments, both reflection in action and allowing them plenty of opportunities to show their own learning: individual & collaborative.
My only suggestion would be allow for some adjustment or modification of assessment to allow students to show their progression in learning. I am also using a mind map which encourage critical thinking and decision making skills in group learning. I am still piecing together my Task Sheet/ rubric which is mostly a reflective task at end to ensure they have deeper understandings etc. Good luck.

Thank you for your comment. I am not quite sure what you mean by “allow for some adjustment or modification of assessment to allow students to show their progression in learning. ” Are you referring to the assessment task for the unit of work? Or this particular learning experience?

Hi Sarah. I was referring to your experiments(UOW) and how you will assess the different learning styles. Yes the learning experience.
